trinity student managed fund launched

A collection of Trinity Students have launched the first-ever investment fund to be managed entirely by students in Ireland.

The Trinity Student Managed Fund is comprised of a real-life financial portfolio managed by a team of undergraduate and post-graduate students under the guidance of an advisory board of investment industry experts. The fund has the financial backing of a number of institutions including Allied Irish Banks, Royal Bank of Scotland, Deloitte, and Davy Stockbrokers.

The primary aim of the fund is to provide Trinity students a self-sustaining educational resource which provides real experience in business analysis, portfolio management and risk assessment. On-campus recruiting has begun, with over 100 students signing on for roles in investment analysis and operations.

The fund is a not-for-profit venture, but donations regularly paid out toward community charities. The majority of proceeds on investments will be reinvested to see the fund grow in perpetuity.
